The Church of God of Prophecy, Blue Hills, Providenciales Ministry began as a Mission Work in 1961 under the leadership of the late Bishop James Calvin Williams. His Mission work involved house to house visitations, testifying of his salvation experience which he encountered in November of 1956. He shared about what the Lord had done for him, and he conducted many street meetings evangelizing the community of Blue Hills with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Bro. James as he was affectionately called at the time, soon obtained permission to use the Blue Hills Clinic (formerly the school building), where he held weekly services. These services were attended by many persons in the community who followed the Mission and looked forward to these spirit-filled services where the power of God was demonstrated and lives were transformed.

The late Bishop I. J. Whymns, Colonial Overseer for the Turks and Caicos Islands at that time, began to visit the Mission work in Providenciales, and on one of his visits, he officially appointed Bro. James Calvin Williams as Leader of the Mission, and Sis. Nanless Taylor as the Secretary.

On the 23rd January 1963, the groundbreaking ceremony for the original and first Church of God of Prophecy building was held and Bishop I. J. Whymns laid the cornerstone. With the hard work and dedication of many individuals, the building was completed and presented for Dedication on 12th October 1969.

Bishop I. J. Whymns with the assistance of Evangelist C. N. Williams, who was appointed by the late Bishop Alvin S. Moss, the National Overseer of the Bahamas at that time, officiated at the Dedication Ceremony Service. It was during this same time that Bro. James Calvin Williams was appointed the first Senior Pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy, Blue Hills, Providenciales.

Fast-forward to 52 years later, the Church of God of Prophecy, Blue Hills, remains alive and well serving as a beacon of light and hope in the community. The church is recognized by many as the Mother Church of the Church of God of Prophecy in the Turks and Caicos Islands. This evident in the many lives which have been natured and developed into spiritual leaders who have in turn been commissioned to lead missions and churches across the country.

Currently, the church is under the leadership of Bishop Andrew A Stone, who has been the senior pastor since May 2001. He is supported by associate pastor’s Bishop Kevin Myers, Rev Dianne Grant, and lay min. Dorain Garland. He is also supported by serval auxiliary leaders such as Children’s, Youth’s, Women’s, Men’s, Christian Education, and Evangelism Ministry.
